which raises a good point for the author (who started the thread) ... earlier it was a unwritten rule that a person gets GC in max 5 years ..but as times changed immigration rule did not change and hence we have long wait lines nowadays ..
how much US loses ..a study will have to be done ..but I remember reading a story about a UN study ..which said immigration helps all countries as long as it is controlled (study may have included little bit of uncontrolled too) ..so it said even India gains from illegal bangladeshi's ..because they do lot of work which many Indians don't do. and ofcourse in today's world background check is a must.
how it helps ..most of us know ..immigrant stays at his job for a long time..to keep the status ..whereas natives keep hopping. hence lot of expense in training (this applies from a restaurant to a hi fi IT company).
the point is at what point the person in line will break (and go elsewhere) ..maybe a study has to be done (no one would do it though).
some reports did say that lot of Indians and Chinese went back to their countries (not necessarily for immi ..but I won't be surprised if USCIS was a key factor ..some of my friends (atleast 10 -15) left and now work from India ...and are training more people out there, pay taxes there, all services (from grocery to tourism taxes, education etc etc etc there) ...
The illegal immigrants working in the Swift meat packing plant when ICE raided cost Swift almost $100k per individual, if I recall. Consider what skilled immigrants cost the economy. I've worked in my company for four years now. They could replace me, but there is a lot of knowledge lost if I walk or have to leave.
For people to claim that employees can be replaced with little or no cost, especially skilled employees, they betray their lack of knowledge of economics.

For me, 1. I-140 approval in September, 2007 (actually 09/04/2009 as I have the hard copy) has typo. I think your 09/04/2009 should be 2007.

Does any one know about any fee increase for H1B(Extn) premium processing because of border security bill? I have seen the below in immigration-law site.

I am curious..
why USCIS/ DOL needs a law to re-capture visa # which were not used in previous years ?
I mean Congress already authorized these ? Canot DOL/ UCIS make a judgement based on their own ?

There is no law to allow re-capture of visa numbers as of yet. In fact it says the opposite in the existing laws - That the visa numbers may not be re-captured.
There has been one case of visa recapture law passed during the Clinton administration and they did not allow a rollover recapture (I believe they recaptured the visa numbers that were lost between 1995 and 2000 only (please correct me if I am wrong about the years))

i also have been ff this blog but have not been sharing much bcoz i dont see a lot of sched a bloggers in here.anyway.please read the hammond law group about an amendment that apparently passed the senate to allocate the unused visa from 2001 till 2004 in which 50% will go to sched a workers.one of the bloggers mentioned so.cant verify the authenticity of such but it certainly lifts my dampen spirit.it is the bill that was introduced by senators hutchison and schumer.i am happy to see the support of the IV members towards the mission of this organization.it has been a great source of info for me.MY PD is oct 2006 and have been separated from my wife for over ayear now and our lil girl is growing up without the presence of her mother.it is very heartbreaking,not to mention my life without her.hope all our sufferings will end soon.

See - lets not fight within ourselves. We both have the same cause but expressing differently.
Please read my other pots written to DDLMODES - my only intention was to say that if a "USCIS overhaul" has to happen that should be initiated by Senators.... For Senators to do something American peoples need to talk ( like they did for CIR)

If you read Zoe Lofgren's letter, both secretaries have to answer her questions and it will be a press release as well. We need to make it a public story, but NOT by digging our own hole. Boat 1 is better for me, If I know for sure that Boat 2 will drown me in the ocean. In the heat of the moment, you might not see the consequences of the security lapse rumors.
The established truth so far is
USCIS used all the numbers ahead of time and shut the door on highly skilled immigrants on day one
DOS revised its July 2007 visa bulletin on day one 1, which has not happened in a long time or never.
The wind mill stories are
Some law firms started hallucinating that the security checks were never done. They themselves do not know for sure. If you go and look towards the end of the blog post where it originated, he asks for confirmation instead of telling his resources.
Do you know that there were people who got their GC in 45-60 days last year? I know some personally. The security check and how they say its done or not done has always been esoteric to us. Last year, some one put up the blog of a Taiwanese guy who got labor,140,485 approved in a span of 5-6 months. How can this happen? AFAIK, all the people who got their GC's have PD's like 2003 and 2004. Please do not sling mud, when we do not know for sure, esp when the issues are of paramount importance like security. I will leave things for your discretion.
